Combination tickets to Sweden: ferry plus bridge in one booking
Going through Denmark to Sweden? Scandlines sells the Rostock Gedser crossing together with the Øresund Bridge or the Helsingør Helsingborg ferry as one combination ticket. One booking, one price, and the bridge part works out cheaper than paying at the toll station. This page explains the two options, what they cost, how they work and when a combination ticket is not the right buy.
What a combination ticket is
From Rostock to Sweden by car you cross the water twice: the Baltic between Rostock and Gedser, and the Øresund between Denmark and Sweden. Scandlines lets you book both legs in one go. The first leg is always its own Rostock Gedser ferry. For the second leg you pick either the Øresund Bridge from Copenhagen to Malmö, or the Helsingør Helsingborg ferry further north, which is run by Molslinjen under the Øresundslinjen name.
We used both: on our February 2025 trip we drove the Øresund Bridge from Copenhagen to Malmö on the way out and took the Helsingborg to Helsingør ferry on the way back, before continuing to Gedser and the Rostock ferry. The bridge is quick and undramatic. The ferry is 20 minutes of fresh air and a coffee, and it drops you closer to the E47 south if you are coming down from Gothenburg.
What we learned the hard way: we had bought a separate ticket for the Helsingborg ferry that was tied to one time slot, and we reached the port hours early. The choice was to wait or to buy a new ticket, and because we had to be back in Copenhagen that day we paid twice. The combination ticket avoids exactly this: its Øresund crossing is valid from 8 hours before to 8 hours after your booked Rostock Gedser departure. About ten minutes into the crossing the ship announced that we had crossed the border and that alcohol in the shop on board was now cheaper.

These are the “from” prices Scandlines listed on 17 September 2026 for one way with a car up to 6 metres and up to 9 people. Longer vehicles pay a length surcharge.

Bridge or ferry across the Øresund?

The Øresund Bridge starts just south of Copenhagen and lands at Malmö. It is the natural choice for Malmö, Lund, the E4 north to Stockholm and the E22 along the east coast. From Gedser it is motorway all the way: about 160 km to the bridge, then 16 km of bridge and tunnel.
The Helsingør Helsingborg ferry leaves from the north of Zealand, about 45 km beyond Copenhagen, and crosses in 20 minutes with sailings every 15 to 30 minutes. It lands you on the E6 and E4 at Helsingborg, which suits Gothenburg, the west coast and Halland. It also lets you skip the Copenhagen ring road at rush hour, and Kronborg Castle sits right by the Helsingør terminal if you want a stop.
On price the two combination tickets are within a couple of euros of each other, so let the geography decide.
What you save on the bridge
Take the Standard ferry fare of 82.70 euros away from the 124.25 euro combination price and the bridge share comes to about 41.55 euros one way. The Øresund Bridge’s own price list, valid from 14 September 2026, puts a single crossing for a car at 470 DKK at the toll station and 420 DKK as an online ticket, roughly 63 and 56 euros. So the combination ticket saves you somewhere between 15 and 20 euros per crossing compared with paying the bridge separately, and you avoid the toll station queue.
The exception is frequent drivers: the bridge’s ØresundGO agreement brings a crossing down to 182 DKK, about 24 euros, against an annual fee of 370 DKK. If you cross the Øresund several times a year, that beats every combination ticket and you should book the ferry on its own.
For the Helsingør Helsingborg option the ferry share is about 40 euros. Compare that with the current car fare at oresundslinjen.com before you decide, it moves with the season.
How it works on the day
- You book the combination in the Scandlines booking, choosing Rostock Gedser plus the bridge or the ferry, and get one confirmation
- Rostock Gedser: check in at least 15 minutes before departure, like any other ticket, and with Standard you may take any later sailing with free space that day
- Helsingør Helsingborg: your crossing is valid for 8 hours before or after the Rostock Gedser departure you booked, so plan the drive through Denmark in that window
- Øresund Bridge: Scandlines explains the check-in at the bridge in the booking confirmation. Keep the confirmation on your phone and follow the lane instructions at the toll plaza
- Up to 9 people travel on the car fare; cars over 6 metres, caravans and trailers pay a length surcharge
- Flex adds priority boarding and a free coffee, tea or water per person on the Rostock Gedser ferry
When a combination ticket is not the right buy
- You are staying in Denmark. Copenhagen, Zealand, Møn: just the Rostock Gedser ferry is all you need.
- You want the cheapest possible ferry. Combination tickets come as Standard and Flex only. If a Low Price sailing at 65.30 euros fits your plan, the ferry alone plus an online bridge ticket can come out level or cheaper. Do the sum for your date.
- You cross the Øresund often. The ØresundGO agreement is cheaper per crossing than any combination.

Does the combination ticket exist with Low Price?
No. Combination tickets are sold as Standard, Flex and motorbike fares. Low Price is only available for the ferry on its own.
What if I miss my ferry?
