What do the ferry cost?

The price you can expect

The fares for the Rostock-Gedser ferry fluctuate based on the high and low seasons.

Additionally, there exists a middle season for vehicle passes, during which the prices are slightly elevated compared to the low season rates.

The ‘from’ prices mentioned on the Scandlines website are always:

  • Low season prices
  • Excluding €4 fuel surcharge per crossing for cars and campers
  • Rates for early bookings

The price

You can choose from Early Booker, Standard, and Flex options when making a booking. This will exclude a fuel charge which is €4.

  • Early Booker: €69
  • Standard: €138
  • Flex: €187

There is no additional benefit for round-trip tickets unless you return on the same day. In all other cases, the cost for a round trip is the one-way fare multiplied by two.

For those traveling with a vehicle, the fare is based solely on the vehicle. The maximum number of passengers that can be added to the vehicle is 9. For vehicles longer than 6 meters, an additional charge €30 per two meters applies.

‘Early booker’ from €69

From 30 days before departure, you can buy tickets in limited availability from €69 for a single journey. On top of that is a fuel surcharge of €4.

Low price’ from €84

The low price is sold out a lot and is only Bookable online from 20 to 2 days before departure.

‘Standard’ from €138

Standard tickets can be purchased online up to 2 hours before departure for €138. On top of that is a fuel surcharge of €4.

‘Flex’ from €187

We see Flex tickets as tickets  that you should very rarely order because of the price. These are only interesting if you travel with great uncertainty about your departure date. Flex Tickets are available from €187 excluding the €4 fuel surcharge.

There are several ways to travel between Germany and Denmark. Therefore, comparing the prices between the Rostock-Gedser ferry and the alternatives is important.

Combined Tickets:
Germany – Denmark – Sweden

For those who want to travel to Sweden, purchasing tickets for the bridge or the Helsingborg-Helsingør ferry in one order is possible.

  • Rostock-Gedser + Helsingør-Helsingborg
  • Rostock-Gedser + Øresundbridge

It’s important to know that if you don’t pre-book the Oresundbridge you have to pay even more than the € 15 extra. Make sure you always book these tickets online.

If you want to book this route ‘as cheap as possible’, you need to only do the following three things to reduce the price: Book early (30 days+ early), Book online (otherwise you pay + €15) and book through Scandlines (no extra fees).

Ferry Availability and Prices

The most affordable tickets are available through the ferry operator Scandlines. See if your date and special cheaper tickets (early booking tickets) are still available:
