Rostock Gedser ferry prices
A car crossing on the Scandlines ferry between Rostock and Gedser starts at 65.30 euros one way, if you book online and take a Low Price departure.

Below: every fare, the price per sailing for today and tomorrow, the price calendar, and what happens when you only buy a ticket at the harbour. Prices were checked on scandlines.com on 27 October 2026.
Ticket guide: which ticket suits your trip?
Choose how you travel and what kind of trip it is. You see which tickets fit, what they allow and their from-fare on scandlines.com, checked on 27 October 2026.
These are indicative from-fares, not a quote. What your crossing costs depends on date, departure and availability, and you only see it in the booking.
From fares for a single crossing: Low Price from €65.30, Flex from €157. A given departure can cost more. The difference between the tickets is not comfort, it is how much change of plan they forgive.
What each ticket allows when plans change
Low Price
from €65.30
Online only and on a limited number of departures, more often weekdays, early, late and at night. Good value if your departure time is fixed and you reach the port with time to spare.
Only valid for the booked departure: not earlier, not later, no refund. You can upgrade to a more flexible ticket beforehand for a fee plus the fare difference.
Check the fare for your dateStandard
from €82.70
This from-price applies if you book at least 3 days ahead, while tickets at that price last. Valid for the booked departure and any other departure with space on the same day.
Booked later or on the day, Standard costs more: compare the fare in the booking. Another day: 30 euros plus any fare difference. At the harbour from €147.
Check the fare for your dateFlex
from €157
Free changes and refunds for 90 days, a reserved space, priority boarding.
More than twice the Low Price fare. Worth it if your date may still change or you want to be able to cancel for free.
Check the fare for your dateWith the from-prices, the 1-day ticket is €44.60 below two Low Price tickets, and it is valid on every departure of the day.
1-day ticket
from €86
There and back on the same calendar day, all departures in both directions, up to 9 people in the car.
The return has to be on the same day. At the harbour €108 instead of €86.
Check the fare for your dateTwo Low Price tickets
from €130.60
Two single crossings, each on a fixed departure.
Costs more than the 1-day ticket, and each ticket is only valid for its own booked departure. Usually less practical for a day trip.
Check the fare for your dateWith Scandlines an ordinary return is two single crossings. Which ticket works out cheapest depends on your travel days and how fixed your departure times are. Going out on a Friday and back on the Sunday, the weekend ticket (from €119) is cheaper than two Low Price tickets (from €130.60) and more flexible too.
Changing and cancelling: the rules per ticket
Weekend ticket
from €119
Out on Friday, back on Sunday, on any departure with space on those two days, a car with up to 9 people. Sold from Germany; a mirror version runs from Denmark.
Only for exactly that pattern. Rebooking is possible for a fee; other days are not covered.
Check the fare for your dateTwo Low Price tickets
from €130.60
Lowest from-fare on other travel days, if both departures are fixed and you reach the port with time to spare.
Each ticket is only valid for its own booked departure. Miss one and that ticket is lost, and you need a new one for that crossing. Not available on every departure.
Check the fare for your dateTwo Standard tickets
from €165.40
On both travel days you can take an earlier or later ferry with space if you have to.
Each ticket is tied to its day, another day costs 30 euros plus any difference. The from-price applies if you book at least 3 days ahead.
Check the fare for your dateEasy Return
from €234
Out on a fixed departure, back on a ferry with space. Online only.
Costs more than two Standard tickets, which already cover every departure on their day. Scandlines offers it for limited periods, currently for outward trips from 1 September to 20 December 2026.
Check the fare for your dateBooked separately, a Standard ferry ticket (€82.70) and the Øresund Bridge online (420 DKK, about €56) come to about €138.70 if you book the ferry at least 3 days ahead. The combination ticket starts at €124.25. Compare both totals for your date in the booking.

The car fare covers a vehicle up to 6 metres with up to 9 people; longer vehicles, caravans and trailers pay a length surcharge from the Scandlines price list, Low Price included. Height: the ramp in Gedser is signed at 4.2 metres, the car deck at 4.0 metres. A normal return is two one-way tickets; only the 1-day ticket, the weekend ticket and Easy Return are return fares. Passengers are not charged separately: two adults on a Low Price ticket pay under 33 euros each. We did not see a separate fuel surcharge; an ETS surcharge per crossing is listed in the booking, so check the total before you pay.

Price calendar: which days are cheap, which are expensive
Scandlines works with fixed fare levels per day. We sample the booking about once a week for the next four months and colour each day by its level (recognisable by the Flex fare, which is fixed per level). Standard has two prices per level: the early-booker fare for bookings 3 or more days ahead with a limited quota, and the regular online fare once that quota is gone. Low Price varies per departure; the value shown is the lowest we saw around midday. Car up to 6 m with up to 9 people, one way, direction Rostock to Gedser.

Online, in the app or at the harbour: the difference is real
Scandlines runs two price lists. On 27 October 2026 a Standard car ticket started at 82.70 euros online, the early booker price for booking at least 3 days ahead, and at 147 euros at the harbour; Flex was 157 online and 198 at the harbour, the 1-day ticket 86 online and 108 at the harbour. Low Price and Easy Return are not sold at the harbour at all. Online and in the app you can book up to 2 hours before departure; at the manned lane a handling fee from 15 euros can be added.
Price example, car, one way, Standard ticket (checked 27 October 2026). Scandlines has three price levels, all of them “from” prices that rise with demand and season:
- Early Booker, online at least three days before departure, limited number: from €82.70 in low season, €91.10 in mid season, €103 in high season and €105.80 in summer.
- Regular online price, bookable until two hours before departure: from €116 in low season, €128 in mid season, €145 in high season and €149 in summer.
- At the harbour: from €147.
Compared on the lowest prices in low season, the early booker price is about €64 below the harbour price and the regular online price about €31. That is not what everyone saves: booked on the day itself, the online price can come close to the harbour price, so compare before you pay. Scandlines itself speaks of savings of up to 50 percent. The booking shows what your date costs. Source: Scandlines, Standard ticket Rostock Gedser.
Turning up without a booking, on foot or by bike
A reservation is not required, but at the booths you pay the harbour price, so check the price on your phone before you reach them. The ticket machines in the terminal are mainly there for foot passengers: a 1-day return at 15.50 euros online or at the machine, the bike add-on at the harbour. Two notices on the machine in Gedser are worth knowing: tickets bought there are valid on the day of purchase only, bike tickets for the first departure after purchase, and one of the two machines took cards only, with a 2.8 percent fee for company cards and private cards issued outside the EU. The price notice there was in Danish kroner when we visited, 110 kroner low season and 220 high season for an adult return, children 5 to 13 half price. Check-in times, turnstiles and buses: foot passengers and bikes; with a campervan, caravan or trailer you are better off booking ahead, because space for long vehicles is limited per sailing.

How to pay less for the Rostock Gedser ferry
- Book online, at least 3 days ahead. That is when the Standard early booker price applies; booked on the day, the online price can be close to the harbour price.
- Look at the quiet departures. Low Price is offered on selected sailings, mostly weekdays, early morning, late afternoon and at night; the price per sailing above shows where. Do pick a sailing you are sure to make: the ticket is tied to that one.
- Out and back the same day? The 1-day ticket at 86 euros beats two Standard tickets by a wide margin.
- Only pay for the flexibility you need. Standard already lets you take another departure with space on the same day; Flex is the right ticket when your plans are open, not as a default.
- Going on to Sweden? Scandlines sells the crossing together with the Øresund Bridge or the Helsingør Helsingborg ferry in one booking, and the bridge booked that way is cheaper than paying at the toll station. We drove both: the bridge out, the ferry back. Prices and how the bridge check-in works: combination tickets to Sweden.
- Compare with Puttgarden Rødby. The other Scandlines route is a 45 minute crossing and can be cheaper or more convenient from Hamburg: see alternatives.
- All the saving rules with amounts and a worked example for a return trip: cheap Rostock Gedser ferry tickets.
Our own experience: in February 2025 we crossed from Gedser to Rostock with a car on a Standard ticket, and the ferry was far from full that day. That is one crossing, not a rule: Low Price is only valid for the departure you book, so it suits you if you are sure to make that sailing. In July or on a Friday afternoon we would book Standard.

What does a motorhome or a car with a trailer cost?
The car fare covers vehicles up to 6 metres. Longer vehicles and combinations pay a length surcharge that Scandlines sets in its price list; enter your exact length in the booking to see the price. More on campervan, caravan or trailer.
Know which ticket you need? The exact price for your date is shown in the Scandlines booking.
