Your gateway to Denmark
Gedser is a small village mainly known thanks to the Rostock-Gedser ferry connection. It is located at the southernmost part of Falster Island, offering a direct road connection to Copenhagen, Sweden, or the Danish mainland.Â
Due to this location, it serves as an ideal departure end arrival port for travelers between Scandinavia and particularly Germany and Poland.
The facilities at the Gedser port are limited, with only a restroom available. Nevertheless, you can locate these conveniences in the neighboring village, requiring a brief drive or walk to reach them. The supermarket “Dagli Brugsen” in Gedser is a 5 minute drive and 9 minute walk.
Gedser is charming enough to stroll around while waiting for the ferry to Rostock. Upon arrival, you can also explore the village for a quick bite or a cup of coffee. Surprisingly, the local bistros in the village receive excellent reviews!
For those seeking accommodation in Gedser, options include the B&Bs listed below or hotels in the vicinity.
In the nearby city of Gedesby, there are many vacation homes available for rent and there is a nice beach you can stick around for a day or two before you travel onwards to Copenhagen and/or Sweden.
